The 3rd printmaking symposium takes place in Odense, Denmark and is hosted by Fyns Grafiske Værksted/ The Funen Printmaking Workshop, www.fynsgv.dk
Dear printmaking friends and colleagues!
We are happy to invite you to an exciting graphic symposium entitled ” Letters & Pictures”.
You will collaborate with professional, retired printers, who will help you print with traditional hand operated letterpress machines at The Media Museum of Brandts,
www.brandts.dk , in order to produce an Art book and /or Art poster. There will be several workshops at the Media Museum where you can work with wood and metal types, wood
engraving & lino cutting, simple book binding techniques, the production of marbled papers and personal business cards, Art books & posters. Furthermore there will be a workshop concerning ”xerolitho” ( a simple technique where you can print directly from a photocopy/lasercopy.) Finally we have a workshop in digitally produced images and text .
The overall idea and goal is for each artist to produce a small Art book and contribute to a collaborative Art book -using different printmaking techniques, combining letters, text and images. For example : wood types can be used to create an image.
Workshops and materials will be free of charge. However, we are still waiting for more funding, and at this point we cannot offer you free accomodation. We hope, eventually, to receive extra money and we will inform you when we receive further information. You pay your own travel expenses, but you will have no transportation expenses in Odense, since the workshops are situated in central Odense and within walking distance of everything. The Funen Printmaking Workshop is a 5 minutes walk from the train station. As for accomodation we can recommend following nearby hotels which are not too expensive: Hotel Cabinn Odense, www.cabinn.com , Danhostel www.cityhostel.dk or Hotel Dormir/ Ydes Hotel www.dormir.dk-www.ydes.dk
